Training Camp with Dave Arnold

(October 22-23, 2015)

We are very excited to have Dave as our guest coach for our fall training camp!

Dave Arnold competed as a member of the Canadian Gymnastics team from 1977 – 1983 and coached the Canadian Men’s Gymnastics Team from 1984 – 2001.  He was one of the first twelve men’s gymnastics coaches in the world to ever be awarded the FIG Coaching Diploma (2000). He is a NCCP Level Four Certified Artistic Gymnastics Coach, a Level Two Certified Trampoline Coach and is the Ontario Men’s Provincial Coaching Advisor (2006 to present). Also a well renowned judge, Arnold is Certified Brevet Olympic Level Two in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics.

During his time with the National Team, he led the men in three Olympic Games, seven World Championships, 2 Pan Am Games and three Commonwealth Games!  Arnold has received the Canadian Gymnastics Coach of the Year award four times and was honoured with a Gymnastics Canada Life Membership Award in 2007.

National Coaches Week is a week to celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. This week is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach.

Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie joins Dick St. John (Special Olympics), Eeve Stever (Para Sport & Recreation) and Nancy Ripley (Gymnastics) during National Coaches Week 2015.

The staff of the Island Gymnastics Academy hopes that everyone had a fantastic summer!!! and is ready to start another great year of gymnastics.

The Fall Term of the Recreation Program begins on Saturday, September 12.
