Busy weekend for Island Gymnastics Academy!!

We hosted a number of exciting events over the holiday weekend. Academy staff CJ Keliher and Nancy Ripley taught a two day NCCP Foundations course to coaches from across PEI. For participants, this course will lead to coach certification at the first level of the NCCP program. Congratulations to all coaches who attended!

The boy’s competitive program also held another regional training camp which included athletes from Summerside Saultos as well as Kingswood Gymnastics in Fredericton. Guest coaches included Trip Lewis, Men’s Head Coach at Kingswood and Kelly Thompson from St. FX University.  Kelly is an Olympic level judge who frequently travels in the region to coach our top athletes. Kelly also found time to work with our competitive girls and assist with the Foundations course.

As part of the Year One training plan for the 2015 Canada Games, we also held a girl’s camp which included a practice competition and dance instruction with Galina Terentiev. Congratulation to Maddie, Paige, Kaylee, Annika and Alison on your great performances!
