Island Gymnastics Academy Boys Shine at Nova Scotia Competition
The Island Gymnastics Academy boy’s competitive team recently competed at the Dartmouth Titans Invitational (March 1-3) in Nova Scotia. This annual event attracts over 400 of the region’s best gymnasts.
The best results of the weekend were from the Level 1 under 12 boys. Leading the team was all-around gold medalist Jesse Robertson, who also placed first on floor and second on pommels, parallel bars, and high bar. Trent Quinn was the all-around silver medalist claiming first place on pommels and high bar plus third place on floor. Teammate Trent McClure was fifth all-around, placing second on high bar and fifth on pommels and rings. In Level 1 over 12 Ben Davidson was ninth overall with a fifth on floor and sixth place finish on rings.
In Level 2 under 12 Isaac Bourque was third on pommels, sixth on floor and eighth overall. Teammate Jacob Carver was eighth on parallel bars and ninth on floor and vault. In Level 3 under 12, Donovan Ching was eighth on floor. In Level 3 over 12 Kalyon MacPhail was second on floor, third on pommels and vault, fourth on parallel bars and rings, fifth on high bar and fourth overall. Sam Gillis was the bronze medalist in High Performance Argo with third place finishes on all events. National Youth competitor Ted Landry was second on parallel bars, third on vault, high bar, rings and floor, fourth on pommels and the overall bronze medalist.
Jim Rand, Head Coach at the Academy says “We were especially pleased with our younger boys, many of whom are new to competitive gymnastics. They posted really impressive results in their category.”
