33rd Annual Academy Awards
At the Island Gymnastics Academy’s recent Annual Awards Banquet, the club’s top gymnasts were honored for the 2014-2015 season. Gymnasts were selected from each training group based on competitive results, work ethic and leadership, level of improvement over the year, and sportsmanship. Participation medals were also awarded to the Academy’s Mini Tumblers to recognize their hard works and accomplishments in the pre-competitive program.
It was an exceptional year for the Academy’s competitive teams, who travelled to numerous competitions in the Atlantic region as well as events in Tampa, Montreal, and Gatineau. Academy gymnasts also contributed eleven of the twelve 2015 Canada Games team members who represented PEI in Prince George, BC this past February. The club’s programs continue to grow with over 1000 registered gymnasts.
In the women’s program, award winners included Paige Mills, Clare Murphy, Tanisha Tawil, Hannah Lawless, Sadie Lund, Charlotte Thompson, Lucy Kirby, and Karisa Quinn.
The men’s program winners included Isaac Bourque, Baylen Jupp, Leland Morgan and Matt Gallant.
The Academy also recognized long time members Scott Chandler and Kelly Gillis with special awards for their spirit, leadership and commitment.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR FANTASTIC ATHLETES, COACHES AND PARENTS FOR A WONDERFUL YEAR OF GYMNASTICS!!!!
